Moving to Mudgee

In February 2024 my fiancé and I decided to move 14hrs away, from wine country Barossa to wine country Mudgee, which obviously meant relocating our business, animals and lives.

It took us a few trips to get the horses up to Mudgee with us which was an adventure in itself! Travelling horses that far is tricky and their wellbeing was my highest priority over the trip. Multiple stops did slow the trip up but it meant everyone arrived tied, but sound and healthy. We love being on the road and travelling with the horses so although the trips were long we loved every minute of it.

So far, Mudgee has been great to us. We had some downtime when we got here, just to rest up and let the horses have some time off also.

Since moving, business has been good bringing in a lot of new clients from mainly NSW and QLD but even a few from the NT, which I was hoping for but not expecting so quickly. It’s been great to be able to already service a greater range of clients, even in the short time we have been in Mudgee.

We plan on making Mudgee our home base for the breaking season and growing our business even more. It’s a great place, more central to all the places our team goes out to during the mustering season and a lovely place to live.

We have big plans and dreams for our Mudgee home base, and I cannot wait to see what that looks like for Hillhurst.
